I’m Cat Phoenix, the creatrix and life-force behind Fallen Star, a free-spirited soul who has wandered for many years around our beautiful planet, taking inspiration from nature and its denizens.
My journey
My creative journey began in childhood. As an autistic and naturally artistic child I would spend countless hours fascinated by the natural world, replicating what I observed through art.
I began making jewellery at 16. At 18 I left the UK to travel the world and for many years, I lived out of a rucksack. I craved artistic expression. I needed an art form that was transportable! Jewellery was perfect because the components and tools were so small. While my workshop no longer fits in a rucksack, animals and the natural world remain a strong theme in my work.
Inspired by nature
Drawing inspiration from the delicate balance of creation and destruction found in nature, my work invites you to experience the world through my eyes—a realm filled with infinite detail, magic, and intrigue.
My process is both intricate and intentional, each piece undergoing a meticulous design phase, followed by careful formation, refinement, and detailed finishing. For me, this is alchemy – not just the transformation of metals, but the transformation of energies and emotions.
Why the name?
My own journey has taken me to some dark places. Fallen Star Jewellery is a reminder that we can always find a glimmer of light in even the darkest places, just like that beautiful streak of white light from stars falling on the darkest night. And just like my namesake, the phoenix, my pieces are formed by destroying the old to be recreated: as beautiful, energetic, highly charged works of art, each as unique as the wearer, to whom it feels specifically channelled for.
Philosophy and Goals
True to my values of responsible stewardship, I thoughtfully select my materials to reflect my commitment to sustainability. From recycled metals and eco-friendly packaging to responsibly sourced gemstones, every aspect of my work upholds a deep respect for the environment.
Additionally, Fallen Star Jewellery has to date raised over £2,000 to support conservation efforts worldwide, furthering the protection of the natural world that continuously fuels her artistic inspiration.
